Griekspoor beats Moutet in tight final to win Mallorca Open title

Tallon Griekspoor, the No 4 seed, won the Mallorca Open tournament by beating Corentin Moutet 7-5, 7-6 (3) at Mallorca Country Club.

It is the Dutchman’s third ATP title, and his first since 2023 when he won both of his previous two titles. It is Griekspoor’s second grass-court title, having also won the Libema Open, and maintains his 100% record in ATP finals, with three titles from three final appearances.

Moutet was appearing in just his second final, having last reached a showpiece match in Doha back in 2020.

It was a close encounter, with a single break for the Dutchman late in the opening set the only time either player lost serve.

That proved pivotal in winning the first set for Griekspoor, while a second-set tiebreak then also went the way of the Dutchman.

Earlier in the tournament, Griekspoor, ranked No 34, defeated American qualifier Ethan Quinn (7-5, 6-4), Canadian Gabriel Diallo, the No 6 seed (6-4, 6-4) and Canadian Felix Auger-Aliassime, the second seed (6-4, 6-4).

Moutet, ranked No 83, beat Spaniard Pedro Martinez Portero (4-6, 6-3, 6-0), German Daniel Altmaier, the No 8 seed (7-6 (3), 7-6 (3)), American Learner Tien (6-2, 7-5) and American Alex Michelsen, the No 3 seed (6-4, 7-6 (3)) in the previous rounds of the Mallorca tournament.
