Monte-Carlo Masters: Popyrin upsets Tiafoe to reach last 16

Australian Alexei Popyrin won against American Frances Tiafoe, the No 14 seed, 3-6, 6-3, 6-3 to reach the last 16 of the Monte-Carlo Masters at the Monte-Carlo Country Club on Wednesday.

Popyrin, ranked No 27, will play Norwegian Casper Ruud, the No 4 seed, next.

In the previous round of the Monte-Carlo tournament, the Australian edged out Frenchman Ugo Humbert (3-6, 7-6 (2), 6-4).

Tiafoe, ranked No 17, edged out Serb Miomir Kecmanovic (6-2, 5-7, 7-6 (5)) during the first round of the Monte-Carlo tournament.
