Norwegian Casper Ruud, the No 4 seed and runner-up last year, moved into the last 16 of the Monte-Carlo Masters by beating Spaniard Roberto Bautista Agut 6-2, 6-1 at the Monte-Carlo Country Club on Wednesday afternoon.
Ruud, ranked No 7, will face the winner of the match between American Frances Tiafoe, the No 14 seed, and Australian Alexei Popyrin next.
In the previous round of the Monte-Carlo tournament, Bautista Agut, ranked No 52, won against American Brandon Nakashima (6-2, 6-4).
