Montpellier Open: Kovacevic springs upset upon defending champion Bublik in quarter-final

American qualifier Aleksandar Kovacevic reached the last 4 of the Montpellier Open by beating Kazakh Alexander Bublik, the No 4 seed, 6-3, 6-2 at the Sud de France Arena on Friday evening.
Kovacevic, ranked No 102, will play Russian Andrey Rublev, the top seed, next.
Ahead of his victory, the American edged out Belgian David Goffin, the No 6 seed (6-2, 3-6, 6-4) and won against Italian Mattia Bellucci (7-5, 7-6 (5)).
Bublik, ranked No 39, defeated German Dominik Koepfer (6-4, 6-2) in the previous round of the Montpellier tournament.
