Jack Draper is into his first ATP Tour semi-final on clay, having beaten Italy’s Matteo Arnaldi 6-0, 6-4 – and set to claim a new high spot in the ATP rankings.
Draper is the second British man to reach the last four in Madrid, following in the footsteps of Andy Murray.
He is now 22-2 against players ranked outside the Top 10 since October – and is now poised to be into the ATP Top 5 when the next rankings are released.
That means he is the second left-hander to break the Top 5, after Rafael Nadal.
Draper did not face a single break point in a comprehensive win that took only 77 minutes.
