Rio Open: Darderi gets a retirement from Dellien
Hugo Dellien retired in the second set of his first-round match against Luciano Darderi on Tuesday. Darderi advances to play against either Francisco Cerundolo or Hugo Gaston

Luciano Darderi reached the second round of the Rio Open when Hugo Dellien retired at the Jockey Club Brasileiro in Rio de Janeiro on Tuesday evening. Darderi led 7-6 (2), 2-2 when the qualifier called it quits.
Dellien was playing with a significant amount of tape above his left knee.
The 61st-ranked Italian will next face the winner of a match between Argentinian Francisco Cerundolo, the No 4 seed, and Frenchman Hugo Gaston.
