Australian Alex De Minaur, the No 7 seed, defeated Portuguese Nuno Borges 7-5, 6-2 to reach the last eight of the Shanghai Masters at the Qi Zhong Tennis Center on Wednesday.
De Minaur, ranked No 7, will face the winner of the match between American Learner Tien and Russian Daniil Medvedev, the No 16 seed, next.
The Australian won his 50th win this year, after winning against Pole Kamil Majchrzak (6-1, 7-5) and Argentinian Camilo Ugo Carabelli (6-4, 6-2) in the previous rounds of the Shanghai tournament.
De Minaur leads the ATP Tour in hard court wins this season (37) and becomes the third man to record 50 wins this season after Alcaraz (67) and Fritz (50) to achieve the feat for first time in his career.
