Italian Jannik Sinner, the No 6 seed, beat Argentinian Sebastian Baez, the No 25 seed, 3-6, 6-3, 6-2 to reach the last 16 of the Shanghai Masters at the Qi Zhong Stadium.
Sinner, ranked No 4, will play American Ben Shelton, the No 19 seed, next.
The 22-year-old Italian won against American Marcos Giron (7-6 (7), 6-2) in the previous round of the Shanghai tournament.
In the second round of the Shanghai tournament, Baez, ranked No 29, defeated Australian qualifier Dane Sweeny (6-2, 6-4).
