Austrian wildcard Dominic Thiem moved into the second round of the Tel Aviv Open by edging out Serb Laslo Djere 5-7, 7-6 (3), 6-4 at Expo Tel Aviv on Monday evening.
Thiem, now ranked No 173, will play second seed Marin Čilić next.
