Paul beats Wawrinka to set up Berrettini clash at Queen’s

Tommy Paul defeated Stan Wawrinka 6-1, 6-4 to advance to the quarter-finals at Queen’s Club where he awaits the Italian Berrettini

American Tommy Paul reached the quarter-finals of the Queen’s CLub ATP event with a win over three-time Major winner Stan Wawrinka in straight sets.

Paul, who had never won an ATP-level main draw match prior to this week, won 6-1, 6-4 in one hour and five minutes.

The 35th ranked Tommy Paul next faces second seed Matteo Berrettini, who overcame a stiff challenge from American lucky loser Denis Kudla 3-6, 7-6, 6-4 in two hours and 46 minutes.

Paul, ranked No 35, will face the winner of the match between American lucky loser Denis Kudla and Italian Matteo Berrettini, the second seed, next.
