Toronto Masters: Khachanov makes final
Karen Khachanov edged out Alexander Zverev 6-3, 4-6, 7-6 (4) on Wednesday night and will face the winner of the match between No 4 seed Ben Shelton and second seed Taylor Fritz for the title

Russian Karen Khachanov, the No 11 seed, reached the final of the Toronto Masters by edging out German Alexander Zverev, the top seed, 6-3, 4-6, 7-6 (4) at the Aviva Centre on Wednesday night.
Khachanov, ranked No 16, will face the winner of the match between No 4 seed Ben Shelton and second seed Taylor Fritz next.
Earlier in the tournament, the Russian won against American Alex Michelsen, the No 26 seed (6-4, 7-6 (3)), Norwegian Casper Ruud, the No 8 seed (6-4, 7-5), American qualifier Emilio Nava (6-7 (6), 6-4, 6-1) and Argentinian qualifier Juan Pablo Ficovich (6-4, 6-2).
Zverev, ranked No 3, defeated Australian Alexei Popyrin, the No 18 seed (6-7 (8), 6-4, 6-3), Argentinian Francisco Cerundolo, the No 14 seed (6-4, 1-0 ret.), Italian Matteo Arnaldi, the No 32 seed (6-7 (5), 6-3, 6-2) and Australian Adam Walton (7-6 (6), 6-4) in the previous rounds of the Rogers Cup.
