The semi-final line-up at the Erste Bank Open in Vienna is a high-profile dream, delivering a heavyweight clash of high profile rivals on Saturday. Top seed Jannik Sinner continued his dominant indoor run by exacting revenge on one of the few men to have defeated him this year, while the remaining quarter-finals produced a mix of solid performances and another injury withdrawal to solidify a mouth-watering final four.

The two semi-finals will feature a battle of hard-court titans: Sinner will face third seed Alex de Minaur in a renewal of their fierce rivalry, while fourth seed Lorenzo Musetti is set for a blockbuster all-European showdown with second seed Alexander Zverev.

Sinner Cruises, Avenges Rare Loss

World No. 2 Jannik Sinner delivered a clinical performance to book his spot, defeating eighth seed Alexander Bublik 6-4, 6-4 in a tight, efficient match that lasted just under 80 minutes. The victory was particularly sweet for the Italian, as Bublik was one of the very few players, outside of his main rival Carlos Alcaraz, to have beaten him in a completed match this season, achieving the feat earlier this year on the grass of Halle.

Sinner’s flawless display saw him concede only five points on his serve throughout the entire match, preventing Bublik from earning a single break point. The top seed only two points on his first serve and applied consistent pressure on his opponent’s serve, securing a single break in each set – the crucial differences in an otherwise evenly contested affair. The win extends Sinner’s impressive indoor hard-court winning streak to 19 matches, affirming his status as the tournament favorite.

De Minaur Records Milestone Win

Sinner’s semi-final opponent will be Australia’s Alex de Minaur, the third seed, who navigated a challenging second set to defeat a resurgent Matteo Berrettini 6-1, 7-6(4). The Australian, fighting hard for his place in the Nitto ATP Finals, completely dominated the opening set, racing to a 5-0 lead in just 20 minutes against an Italian who appeared fatigued after a marathon match the day prior.

Berrettini found his rhythm in the second set, recovering from an early break and even forcing a tie-break. However, the relentless consistency of De Minaur proved too much, with the Australian sealing the tie-break 7-4 to complete the win. The victory was De Minaur’s 40th hard-court win of the 2025 season—a milestone no other player on the ATP Tour has reached this year.

Musetti and Zverev Set for Blockbuster

In the final match of the day, Italy’s Lorenzo Musetti, the No. 4 seed, reached the semi-finals by winning against Frenchman Corentin Moutet 6-3, 6-4 at the Wiener Stadthalle. Musetti displayed his all-court prowess, comfortably dispatching a tricky opponent who had ousted former champion Daniil Medvedev in the previous round. The Italian had previously defeated Argentinian Tomas Martin Etcheverry and Serb lucky loser Hamad Medjedovic to reach the last eight.

Musetti, ranked world No. 8, now faces Alexander Zverev, the second seed. Zverev advanced to the semi-finals via a walkover (W/O) from his opponent, Tallon Griekspoor. The Dutch player was forced to withdraw from the match, though the official reason was not immediately confirmed by the tournament, denying the German the chance to earn his spot on court.
