Zverev begins Rome title defence with confident win over Carabelli

Defending champion Alexander Zverev took his winning streak at the Rome Masters to seven matches as he beat Argentinian Camilo Ugo Carabelli 6-2, 6-1 to reach the third round at the Foro Italico in Roma on Friday evening.

Zverev, ranked No 2, will play Lithuanian qualifier Vilius Gaubas next.

Ugo Carabelli, ranked No 60, beat Spanish lucky loser Pablo Carreno Busta (6-2, 1-6, 6-3) in the previous round of the Italian Open.
