Ugo on the go – Humbert reaches third round with win over Kudla

Frenchman Ugo Humbert moved into the third round of the Australian Open by edging out American lucky loser Denis Kudla 6-2, 6-7 (5), 6-2, 6-4 at Melbourne Park on Thursday night.

The hard-hitting southpaw entered the main draw on a four-match losing streak but he has turned things around nicely in Melbourne, where he has reached the third round for the first time.

Humbert, ranked No 106, will play the winner of the match between American Maxime Cressy and Dane Holger Rune, the No 9 seed, next.

The Frenchman won against Richard Gasquet (6-3, 6-4, 6-3) in the previous round.
