Ivanisevic and Rybakina part ways after Australian Open
On Monday, the Kazakh had said she was not clear on whether the pair would continue working together
Goran Ivanisevic and Elena Rybakina have parted ways, with the Croatian breaking the news on his social media on Tuesday.
“After our trial period that finished with Australian Open, I wish Elena and her team the best of luck moving forward,” he posted.
Ivanisevic and Rybakina only began working over the pre-season. The Kazakh exited the Australian Open in the round of 16, losing to Madison Keys 6-3, 1-6, 6-3 on Monday.
Her time in Melbourne was shrouded in controversy, however, as a past coach, Stefano Vukov, returned to her team as well despite being banned handed a suspension by the WTA.
Following her loss to Keys, Rybakina was not clear on whether her partnership with Ivanisevic would continue.
“Well, we still need to talk of course,” she said.
“We just tried the pre-season and these couple of tournaments. It was something we were just getting used to each other.
“We will definitely talk how the next schedule is going to look like.”
