The world No 2 has spoken recently about the tough decisions she has to make around her scheduling, and confirmed she would play only Tokyo, Beijing, and the WTA Finals this autumn.

Coco Gauff will not be in the USA team either. Jessica Pegula, the world No 4, is also missing – she and Gauff will both be playing in singles and doubles at the WTA Finals in Cancun, Mexico, which finish two days before the Billie Jean King Cup finals start.

There will be plenty of Grand Slam champions in action, including singles winners Marketa Vondrousova and Barbora Krejcikova of Czechia, Elena Rybakina of Kazakhstan, and Sofia Kenin and Sloane Stephens of the USA.
