Grigor Dimitrov is the second ATP player to have tested positive for Covid-19. He made the announcement on Instagram, saying that he is now back in Monaco resting.

The 29-year-old World No 19 has been playing on Novak Djokovic’s Adria Tour since last weekend; he played the full weekend in Belgrade, Serbia, along with several other top-tier players, including Djokovic, Dominic Thiem and Alexander Zverev.

“I want to reach out and let my fans and friends know that I tested positive back in Monaco for Covid-19,” Dimitrov wrote on Instagram. “I want to make sure anyone who has been in contact with me during these past days gets tested and takes the necessary precautions. I am so sorry for any harm I might have caused. I am back home now and recovering. Thanks for your support and please stay safe and healthy.”

Dimitrov was in Zadar, Croatia this weekend playing on the Adria Tour, where he lost to Borna Coric and didn’t look himself.

Dimitrov has been in contact with all the aforementioned players and many more, not to mention fans and media members. Social distancing has not been not a priority at either event, but the tournament’s organizers assured the public that they had done everything in accordance with government regulations.

Serbia and Croatia have not been hit particularly hard by the coronavirus pandemic. Serbia registered less than 13,000 confirmed cases and Croatia has under 2,500 confirmed cases.

As a precaution, Sunday’s final between Novak Djokovic and Andrey Rublev has been cancelled.

Brazil’s Thiago Seyboth-Wild was the first ATP player to test positive for Coronavirus. He made the announcement in March.
