Major upset at Roland-Garros : Rune defeats Tsitsipas !
Holger Rune edged out Stefanos Tsitsipas 7-5, 3-6, 6-3, 6-4 on Monday and will face Norwegian Casper Ruud, the No 8 seed, in the next round.

Dane Holger Rune reached the last eight of the French Open by edging out Greek Stefanos Tsitsipas, the No 4 seed and 2021 finalist, 7-5, 3-6, 6-3, 6-4 at Stade Roland-Garros in Paris on Monday afternoon.
Rune, ranked No 40, will face Norwegian Casper Ruud, the No 8 seed, next.
Rune is playing only his first Roland-Garros, and has just lost a set in four matches. Ahead of his victory, the 19-year-old Dane won against Canadian Denis Shapovalov, the No 14 seed (6-3, 6-1, 7-6 [4]), Swiss Henri Laaksonen (6-2, 6-3, 6-3) and Frenchman Hugo Gaston (6-3, 6-3, 6-3).
Tsitsipas, ranked No 4, was deflated by Rune’s courage and enthousiasm. He defeated Italian Lorenzo Musetti (5-7, 4-6, 6-2, 6-3, 6-2), Czech qualifier Zdenek Kolar (6-3, 7-6 [8], 6-7 [3], 7-6 [7]) and Swede Mikael Ymer (6-2, 6-2, 6-1) in the previous rounds of the French Open.
