Brilliant Danilovic stuns Collins with comeback win for spot in Roland-Garros third round

Olga Danilovic reached the third round of Roland-Garros for the second successive year by battling past the in-form Danielle Collins, beating the American 6-7 (3), 7-5, 6-4.

The big-hitting left-hander completed an excellent win from one set down to edge past Collins, one of the most in-form players on either tour this year.

Danilovic – a qualifier here in Paris – returns to the third round, where she lost to Ons Jabeur last year, and will face Donna Vekic.

This win also avenges the Serb’s close three-set defeat to Collins in Madrid a few weeks ago and backs up her impressive win over Martina Trevisan (6-1, 6-2) in the previous round.

In the first round, Collins, ranked No 10, beat Caroline Dolehide (6-3, 6-4).
