Roland-Garros: Paolini reaches first career Slam quarter-final

Italian Jasmine Paolini, the No 12 seed, won against Russian Elina Avanesyan 4-6, 6-0, 6-1 to advance to the last eight of Roland-Garros at Roland-Garros in Paris on Monday.
Paolini, ranked No 15, will play Kazakh Elena Rybakina, the No 4 seed, next in what will be her maiden career Grand Slam quarter-final.
The Italian defeated Australian Daria Saville (6-3, 6-4), American lucky loser Hailey Baptiste (6-4, 7-6 (6)) and Canadian Bianca Andreescu (6-1, 3-6, 6-0) ahead of her victory.
Earlier in the tournament, Avanesyan, ranked No 70, beat Chinese Lin Zhu (6-2, 6-4), Anna Blinkova (6-3, 6-0) and Chinese Qinwen Zheng, the No 7 seed (3-6, 6-3, 7-6 (6)).
