US Open: Thompson scores biggest win of his career, beats Hurkacz in second round

Australian Jordan Thompson won against Pole Hubert Hurkacz, the No 7 seed, 7-6 (2), 6-1, 7-5 to move into the third round of the US Open.

Thompson, ranked No 32 and a recent finalist in Atlanta, will play Italian Matteo Arnaldi, the No 30 seed, next.

The Australian defeated Frenchman Constant Lestienne (6-1, 6-3, 6-2) ahead of his victory.

In the previous round of the US Open, Hurkacz, ranked No 7, won against Kazakh qualifier Timofey Skatov (6-3, 7-6 (4), 7-6 (3)).
