Major Talk: a series of interviews conducted by French player Alizé Lim with some of the tour’s brightest stars. They seat with her for a chat. Elina Svitolina, WTA world number 5, is our first guest in Major Talk. The Ukrainian talked about the current situation, and in particular her activities during the confinement, due to the coronavirus pandemic that is hitting the world.
“With Gaël (Gaël Monfils, her boyfriend) we are at home for four weeks. We’re staying home. We left twice to do the grocery. And once to do a little hike. After three weeks, it’s started to be really tough.”
To spend time, Elina Svitolina is very active on Tik Tok, but also continues her nutrition studies, which she started last year.
“I’m doing my nutrition studies. I’ve been doing it for one year. I have two more tests to go, to finish my course. I really love to know what’s affecting our body. That’s why I took this course.”
Svitolina misses tennis
Confined at home, Elina Svitolina has not touched a racket since her victory at Monterrey on March 8. A feeling of victory that she misses a lot.
“I think this winning feel is something you start to miss. For sure, going back into tennis… It’s going to take a lot of work and a lot of process of getting the feeling back. Of the feet, of the hand… Of everything, of the racket… Competing in front of many people, playing in big stadiums, Grand Slams, big tournaments, any tournament to be fair, just the winning feeling. Especially when I finish my last match by winning the tournament. It’s a bit disappointing. I just got back into my routine. It’s … So frustrating.”

In Major Talk, we also discovered that Elina Svitolina was a big fan of Andre Agassi, and she finally succeeded to have a picture with him, two years ago.
“When I met him, I was shaking. I wanted to make a picture with him. I couldn’t talk. Seriously.”
