Paula Badosa defeated former world No 1 and two-time Indian Wells champion Victoria Azarenka 7-6, 2-6, 7-6 in a hard-fought three-hour three-minute battle to win the BNP Paribas Open. She became the first Spaniard to win the event in tournament history.
