Italian Jannik Sinner, the top seed, moved into the quarter-finals of Wimbledon when Bulgarian Grigor Dimitrov, the No 19 seed, retired at the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club in London on Monday evening.
Sinner, ranked No 1, led 3-6, 5-7, 2-2 when Dimitrov, ranked No 21, pulled out on Monday evening at the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club in London.
The Italian will play American Ben Shelton, the No 10 seed, next.
Jannik Sinner won against Spaniard Pedro Martinez Portero (6-1, 6-3, 6-1), Australian Aleksandar Vukic (6-1, 6-1, 6-3) and Luca Nardi (6-4, 6-3, 6-0) in the previous rounds of The Championships.
Earlier in the tournament, the 34-year-old Bulgarian beat Austrian Sebastian Ofner (6-3, 6-4, 7-6), Frenchman Corentin Moutet (7-5, 4-6, 7-5, 7-5) and Japanese Yoshihito Nishioka (6-2, 6-3, 6-4).
