Karen Khachanov, the No 16 seed from Russia, defeated Poland’s Kamil Majchrzak 6-4, 6-2, 6-3 on Sunday to qualify for the quarter-finals of the 2025 Wimbledon Championships.

Khachanov used only an hour, 48 minutes to knock Majchrzak out. He registered 10 aces, 44 winners and an average of 79 percent on first-serve points.

The Russian had his serve broken once, in the final set, but converted four break points to grab the first quarter-final spot this year.

After an easy victory over Mackenzie McDonald (7-5, 6-4, 6-4) in the first round, Khachanov survived scares in the second and third against Shintaro Mochizuki (1-6, 7-8 (7), 4-6, 6-3, 6-4) and Nuno Borges (7-6 (6), 4-6, 4-6, 6-3, 7-6 (10-8)).

He now awaits the winner of the fourth-round fight between No 5 seed Taylor Fritz and Jordan Thompson. It will be his second last-eight appearance at SW19, having reached the same stage in 2021, when Canadian Denis Shapovalov halted his campaign.
