Tunisian Ons Jabeur, the No 3 seed, reached the second round of Wimbledon by winning against Swedish qualifier Mirjam Bjorklund 6-1, 6-3 at the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club in London on Monday.

Jabeur, who lost in the first round at Roland-Garros, expressed satisfaction to be through to round two after her win.

“I learned a lot from the first round in Roland Garros,” she said. “Obviously everything feels different here. I feel like more ready. Starting Monday not Sunday is much better for me. Let’s say I opened the Court 1, and it was great.”

Seeking some Djoko-magic at Wimbledon

The Tunisian trailblazer is doing her best to not let pressure and expectations get to her as she tries to improve upon her quarter-final performance at Wimbledon from last year.

“Last time I was thinking about pressure, didn’t work very well for me,” she said, referring to her loss at Roland-Garros to Magda Linette.

“I’m trying to handle it. The learning: obviously I never been in this situation before. I was joking with Djokovic, told him, ‘Give me some of the touch to win Wimbledon.'”

Jabeur, ranked at a career-high No 2, will face the Polish qualifier Katarzyna Kawa next.
