Wimbledon: Frech makes third round
Magdalena Frech defeated Anna-Karolina Schmiedlova 6-4, 6-4 on Thursday. She’ll face the winner of the match between Belgian Kirsten Flipkens and Romanian Simona Halep, the No 16 seed, in the next round
Pole Magdalena Frech beat Slovak Anna-Karolina Schmiedlova 6-4, 6-4 to move into the third round of Wimbledon at the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club in London on Thursday afternoon.
Frech, ranked No 92, will play the winner of the match between Belgian Kirsten Flipkens and Romanian Simona Halep, the No 16 seed, next.
The Pole won against Italian Camila Giorgi, the No 21 seed (7-6 (4), 6-1) in the previous round.
During the first round, Schmiedlova, ranked No 84, won against Swede Rebecca Peterson (7-5, 0-6, 6-3).
