Wimbledon: Swiatek advances to last 16, defeating Martic

Pole Iga Swiatek, the top seed, moved into the last 16 of Wimbledon by beating Croat Petra Martic, the No 30 seed, 6-2, 7-5 at the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club in London on Friday.
Swiatek, ranked No 1, will face Swiss Belinda Bencic, the No 14 seed, next.
The 22-year-old Pole is cruising since the beginning of the tournament. She won against Chinese Lin Zhu (6-1, 6-3) and Spaniard Sara Sorribes Tormo (6-2, 6-0) ahead of her victory.
Martic, ranked No 29, benefited from the abandonment of Linda Fruhvirtova (7-5, 6-7 (5), 4-1) and defeated Frenchwoman Diane Parry (4-6, 6-3, 6-3) before losing to Martic.
