Andreescu sets up clash against top seed Kasatkina in Bad Homburg

Former US Open champion Bianca Andreescu advanced to the quarter-finals of the Bad Homburg Open by defeating British qualifier Katie Swan in straight sets on Wednesday.

The 22-year-old Canadian won 6-4, 6-4 in one hour and 37 minutes and will next meet top seed Daria Kasatkina, of Russia. Kasatkina scored a 6-1, 3-6, 6-1 win over German wildcard Jule Niemeier.

This was 64th-ranked Andreescu’s second consecutive straight sets win this week, after knocking out seventh seed Martina Trevisan 6-3, 6-1) in her first match.

Andreescu holds a 1-0 edge in career head-to-head over Kasatkina.
