Anisimova rallies past Kostyuk, makes Doha semi-finals

American Amanda Anisimova moved into the semi-finals of the Qatar Open by edging out Ukrainian Marta Kostyuk 4-6, 7-5, 6-4 at the Khalifa International Tennis and Squash Complex in Doha on Thursday evening.
Anisimova, ranked No 41, will play Russian Ekaterina Alexandrova next.
The 23-year-old American has defeated four consecutive higher-ranked players in Doha.
Ahead of her victory, the American won against 30th-ranked Belarusian Victoria Azarenka (6-3, 7-5), 10th-ranked Spaniard Paula Badosa, the No 9 seed (6-4, 6-3) and 27th-ranked Canadian Leylah Fernandez (6-3, 6-0).
Kostyuk, ranked No 21, defeated wildcard Zeynep Sonmez (6-3, 6-3), American Coco Gauff, the No 3 seed (6-2, 7-5) and Pole Magda Linette (6-4, 6-2) in the previous rounds of the Qatar tournament.
