Argentina Open: Carle makes semi-finals

Argentinian Maria Lourdes Carle won against Andorran Victoria Jimenez Kasintseva 7-5, 6-2 to move into the semi-finals of the Argentina Open at Buenos Aires Lawn Tennis Club on Friday evening.

Carle, ranked No 160, will play Hungarian Panna Udvardy, the No 3 seed, next.

Ahead of her victory, the 22-year-old Argentinian defeated No 9 seed Su Jeong Jang (6-4, 7-6 (6)) and American Hailey Baptiste (6-4, 6-0).

Kasintseva, ranked No 121, won against Argentinian wildcard Chiara Di Genova (6-0, 6-2) and American Ann Li (3-6, 6-1, 6-2) in the previous rounds.
