Argentina Open: Sierra moves into last eight

Argentinian Solana Sierra won against American Robin Montgomery 6-4, 7-5 to advance to the quarter-finals of the Argentina Open at the Buenos Aires Lawn Tennis Club on Thursday evening.

Sierra, ranked No 209, will play Brazilian Laura Pigossi, the No 5 seed, next.

In the previous round of the Argentinian tournament, the 19-year-old Argentinian beat American qualifier Varvara Lepchenko (6-2, 6-2).

Montgomery, ranked No 224, defeated Italian Sara Errani, the second seed (6-3, 6-4) in the previous round of the Argentinian tournament.
