ASB Classic: Svitolina makes last eight

Ukrainian Elina Svitolina, the top seed, beat English wildcard Katie Boulter 7-5, 6-4 to reach the last 8 of the ASB Classic on Thursday.
Svitolina, ranked No 13, will play the winner of the match between German Ella Seidel and Englishwoman Sonay Kartal next.
The Ukrainian won against Frenchwoman Varvara Gracheva (6-3, 6-1) in the previous round, to open her season. Boulter, ranked No 112, defeated Ukrainian qualifier Yuliia Starodubtseva (6-3, 6-3).
