No 5 seed Diane Parry moved into the second round of the Austin Open by beating qualifier Jessika Ponchet 6-3, 7-6 (4) at the Westwood Country Club on Monday evening.
Parry, ranked No 62, will face the winner of the match between Russian Kamilla Rakhimova and Belgian Yanina Wickmayer next.
