Barranquilla Open: Schmiedlova books spot in quarter-finals
Anna Karolina Schmiedlova beat Emiliana Arango 6-0, 6-2 on Wednesday night and will play Brazilian Laura Pigossi, the No 8 seed, in the next round
Slovak Anna Karolina Schmiedlova, the second seed, defeated Colombian Emiliana Arango 6-0, 6-2 to reach the last 8 of the Barranquilla Open on Wednesday night.
Schmiedlova, ranked No 70, will face Brazilian Laura Pigossi, the No 8 seed, next.
The Slovak won against Colombian wildcard María Paulina Pérez García (4-6, 7-6 (4), 6-3) in the previous round.
In the 32, Arango, ranked No 168, beat wildcard Yuliana Monroy (6-2, 6-1).
