Italian Elisabetta Cocciaretto moved into the last 16 of the Birmingham Open by winning against Latvian Jelena Ostapenko, the top seed, 6-3, 6-3 at Edgbaston Priory Club.
Cocciaretto, ranked No 44, will face American wildcard Sloane Stephens next.
