Spanish wildcard Guiomar Maristany Zuleta De Reales edged out Dutchwoman Arantxa Rus, the No 3 seed, 3-6, 6-2, 6-4 to advance to the semi-finals of the Catalonia Open.
Maristany Zuleta De Reales, ranked No 290, will face Egyptian Mayar Sherif next.
In the previous rounds, the Spaniard won against Japanese Nao Hibino (6-4, 1-6, 6-1) and Serb Dejana Radanovic (6-5 ret.).
Rus, ranked No 47, beat Russian Kamilla Rakhimova (6-3, 6-4) and Russian Erika Andreeva (6-4, 6-0) earlier in the tournament.
