Spaniard Nuria Parrizas Diaz advanced to the last 16 of the Catalonia Open by winning against Chinese Xinyu Wang, the No 4 seed, 6-0, 7-6 (3) on Tuesday evening.
Parrizas Diaz, ranked No 76, will face Dutchwoman Arantxa Rus next.
