Katerina Siniakova has won the Catalonia Open, beating Mayar Sherif in three sets in Sunday’s final

Second seed Katerina Siniakova won the Catalonia Open tournament by defeating Egyptian Mayar Sherif 6-4, 4-6, 6-3 on Sunday.
Ahead of her victory, Siniakova, ranked No 40, beat American Alycia Parks (6-2, 6-4), Lina Gjorcheska (6-2, 6-2), American Ashlyn Krueger (2-6, 6-2, 6-1) and Colombian Camila Osorio, the No 7 seed (6-3, 6-4).
Sherif, ranked No 72, defeated Belarusian Aliaksandra Sasnovich (6-3, 3-6, 6-3), Romanian Ana Bogdan, the No 8 seed (6-3, 4-6, 6-1), American Emma Navarro, the top seed (W/O) and Spanish wildcard Guiomar Maristany Zuleta De Reales (6-2, 6-3) in the previous rounds.
