Mexican Renata Zarazua, the No 5 seed, defeated Spaniard Irene Burillo Escorihuela 6-0, 6-2 to move into the last 16 of the Catalonia Open on Monday.
Zarazua, ranked No 67, will face the winner of the match between Dutchwoman Arantxa Rus and Swiss Rebeka Masarova next.
