Charleston Open: Alexandrova upsets Shnaider to reach last eight
The Russian will face China’s Qinwen Zheng, the No 3 seed, in the next round

No 9 seed Ekaterina Alexandrova won against No 6 seed Diana Shnaider 6-2, 6-1 to move into the quarter-finals of the Charleston Open at the Family Circle Tennis Center on Thursday.
Alexandrova, ranked No 26, will play Chinese Qinwen Zheng, the No 3 seed, next.
Alexandrova beat American Ann Li (6-3, 6-0) ahead of her win today.
In the previous round of the tournament, Shnaider, ranked No 14, won against Polina Kudermetova (6-3, 6-2).
