Canadian Eugenie Bouchard won against Slovenian Kaja Juvan 7-6 (6), 6-3 to move into the last 8 of the Firenze Ladies Open on Wednesday evening.
Bouchard, ranked No 233, will play the winner of the match between Italian Sara Errani, the No 6 seed, and Indian qualifier Ankita Raina next.
The Canadian beat Italian wildcard Diletta Cherubini (6-4, 6-4) ahead of her victory.
In the previous round, Juvan, ranked No 130, edged out American Claire Liu, the second seed (6-0, 5-7, 6-4).
