Italian Lucia Bronzetti, the No 8 seed, won against Australian Priscilla Hon 7-5, 6-3 to reach the semi-finals of the Firenze Ladies Open on Friday afternoon.
Bronzetti, ranked No 98, will play the winner of the match between Italian Jasmine Paolini, the No 4 seed, and Swiss Ylena In-Albon next.
In the previous rounds, the Italian beat Australian Olivia Gadecki (3-6, 6-3, 6-0) and Slovenian qualifier Dalila Jakupovic (7-6 (1), 6-3).
Hon, ranked No 164, won against Italian Lucrezia Stefanini (6-4, 6-2) and Swiss qualifier Celine Naef (7-5, 6-3) earlier in the tournament.
