Australian wild card Ajla Tomljanovic won the Florianopolis Open by defeating Argentinian Martina Capurro Taborda 6-1, 7-5 on Sunday evening.
Ajla Tomljanovic beat Frenchwoman Fiona Ferro (6-7 (5), 7-5, 6-3), Ipek Oz (5-7, 7-6 (6), 7-5), Romanian Miriam Bulgaru (7-6 (5), 6-2) and Mexican Renata Zarazua (6-1, 6-1) earlier in the tournament.
Capurro Taborda, ranked No 194, defeated Brazilian wildcard Carolina Bohrer Martins (6-3, 6-4), American Elizabeth Mandlik, the No 8 seed (6-3, 3-6, 6-3), Frenchwoman Carole Monnet (7-6 (7), 6-0) and No 3 seed Nadia Podoroska (6-2, 6-1).
