Florianopolis Open: Todoni moves into quarter-finals
Anca Alexia Todoni defeated Gabriela Ce 6-1, 6-3 on Wednesday evening and will play the winner of the match between Slovenian Polona Hercog and Argentinian Nadia Podoroska, the No 3 seed, in the next round
Romanian qualifier Anca Alexia Todoni moved into the last 8 of the Florianopolis Open by winning against Brazilian wildcard Gabriela Ce 6-1, 6-3 on Wednesday evening.
Todoni, ranked No 256, will face the winner of the match between Slovenian Polona Hercog and Argentinian Nadia Podoroska, the No 3 seed, next.
The 19-year-old Romanian beat Frenchwoman Diane Parry, the No 5 seed (6-2, 6-2) ahead of her victory.
In the previous round of the Brazilian tournament, Ce, ranked No 403, benefited from the abandonment of American qualifier Makenna Jones (3-6, 6-6).
