Colombian Emiliana Arango won against American Elizabeth Mandlik 6-4, 3-6, 6-2 to advance to the last 8 of the Guadalajara 125 Open on Wednesday evening.
Arango, ranked No 142, will play the winner of the match between Australian Astra Sharma and Canadian Rebecca Marino next.
The Colombian defeated Mexican wildcard Ana Karen Guadiana Campos (6-0, 6-1) ahead of her victory.
In the previous round, Mandlik, ranked No 166, beat Australian Maya Joint, the No 9 seed (6-4, 6-3).
