Gauff, Garcia clinch qualification spots for WTA Finals in Texas
Three spots remain for the eight-woman event, which will be played in Fort Worth from October 31 to November 7
Coco Gauff and Caroline Garcia booked their places in the season-ending WTA Finals on Wednesday, leaving just three spots remaining.
American Gauff and France’s Garcia were assured of their places without hitting a ball as second seed Aryna Sabalenka was beaten by Liudmila Samsonova.
The pair join Iga Swiatek, Ons Jabeur and Jessica Pegula in securing their places in the Finals, which will be played for the first time in Fort Worth, Texas, from October 31 to November 7.
It’s the first time Gauff has made it to the Finals and she’s the youngest woman to do so since 2005.
Garcia reached the semi-finals of the WTA Finals when she reached it for the first time in 2017.
