ALERT – Hungarian Grand Prix: Pera wins the trophy
Bernarda Pera won the trophy on Sunday afternoon against Aleksandra Krunic.
American qualifier Bernarda Pera won the Hungarian Grand Prix title by beating Serb Aleksandra Krunic 6-3, 6-3 at Római Tennis Academy in Budapest on Sunday afternoon.
Pera, ranked No 130, defeated Spanish lucky loser Marina Bassols Ribera (6-2, 7-5), Belarusian Aliaksandra Sasnovich, the No 5 seed (7-5, 6-2), Italian Elisabetta Cocciaretto (6-4, 6-3) and Hungarian Anna Bondar, the No 9 seed (6-3, 6-4) in the previous rounds of the Hungarian Open.
Earlier in the tournament, Krunic, ranked No 105, defeated German Laura Siegemund (6-3, 6-4), Chinese Shuai Zhang, the No 6 seed (6-1, 6-0), Chinese Xiyu Wang (6-0, 6-1) and Kazakh Yulia Putintseva, the No 3 seed (6-2, 6-2).
