Russian Diana Shnaider beat American Bernarda Pera, the top seed and defending champion, 6-4, 7-5 to advance to the last 16 of the Hungarian Open at Római Tennis Academy in Budapest on Tuesday.

Shnaider, ranked No 110, will play the winner of the match between Australian Daria Saville and Russian lucky loser Maria Timofeeva next.
