Italian Open: Ostapenko books spot in last 16 after Siegemund withdrawal
Jelena Ostapenko benefited from the forfeit of Laura Siegemund on Saturday and will play Italian Jasmine Paolini, the No 6 seed, in the next round

Latvian Jelena Ostapenko, the No 17 seed, advanced to the last 16 of the Italian Open after German lucky loser Laura Siegemund withdrew before the match at the Foro Italico in Roma on Saturday.
Ostapenko, ranked No 18, will face Italian Jasmine Paolini, the No 6 seed, next.
In the previous round of the Rome tournament, the Latvian won against Slovak Rebecca Sramkova (1-6, 6-4, 6-3).
Siegemund, ranked No 101, beat Italian Lucia Bronzetti (6-2, 6-2) in the previous round of the Rome tournament.
